Freshmen Move-in Day set for Friday, Aug. 22

Please join us for Freshmen Move-in Day on Friday, August 22!

It’s almost time once again to welcome an important group — new students and their families — to our University of Montevallo family. Moving away to college is an exciting and at times overwhelming milestone in the lives of our students and their loved ones. During the last few years, it has become a UM tradition for our faculty, staff, alumni and community to join together to help make this less stressful by assisting our new students as they move into the residence halls. The students and their families truly appreciate the extra help, and we hope that you will join us in offering a warm Montevallo welcome to the students moving into our close-knit community.

New students will be moving in Friday, August 22, from 8 a.m. – noon. Two shifts (7:45 a.m. – 10 a.m. or 9:45 a.m.– noon) have been designated. However, whatever amount of time you can donate to this important campus event will be appreciated.

There are many ways you can assist us in extending a hearty welcome. In addition to helping students carry belongings to their rooms, we need people to serve beverages, hold doors, and answer general questions. There is something for everyone! On Move-In Day, please stop by the Housing and Residence Life Office (in Main Hall) prior to your shift to receive your complimentary T-shirt. Your UM Move-In 2014 T-shirt is a small token of our appreciation for your help and will signify to students and their parents that you are a part of the official move-in process.

Plan now to take just a couple of hours to help on this very important day and to join in the fun of meeting the newest members of the UM family! This is a wonderful opportunity to show your UM pride. Please call the Housing and Residence Life Office at 205-665-6235 or email to sign up. A reply by Wednesday, August 20, will be appreciated.

Thank you for considering our request and Go Falcons!
