What brought you to Montevallo?
My late husband Albert P. Jones, II a native of Montevallo would tell me how nice the university was. At the time, I was working in the corporate sector in Hoover, Alabama with a newborn that had frequent illness that was causing many days and hours to be taken from work. So, he suggested that I apply here and the rest is history as I have been here ever since and love it.
What’s the best thing about working for Montevallo?
Montevallo is not only my home, but it is family. The uniqueness of our size, beautiful campus, and all-in nature made it a warm and safe place for me and my family. I am able to engage students, faculty, staff, and alumni on an intimate level addressing the needs of UM with a holistic approach.
Do you have any interesting stories about one of your favorite experiences here?
I have several, but the most recent story was receiving a surprise honor as the 2022 Alumni Volunteer Recognition. The place where I spent many moments reflecting, eating lunch, preparing for an event, or having interesting conversations… Reynolds Circle drive now has a brick with my name engraved on it.
What’s your proudest accomplishment since being at UM?
My proudest accomplishment was obtaining my degree in 2011 as an adult returning, 1st gen student one month before my oldest daughter graduated high school. Walking to Flowerhill, moving my tassel, being inducted as an alum, then later serving alumni was a full circle moment that I will always embrace. Additionally, having my three daughters being able to say this is their alma mater makes me one proud mama. The youngest daughter, is paving her on UM way on the bricks now with sights on the class of 2025.
Why do you belong at Montevallo?
I belong, because this is where I have always belonged. A place where I can be myself, utilize my given talents, share love for purple and gold, always find a good nook on campus to enjoy, have the best walks ever, and always have good conversation!
