Curiouser and Curiouser: The Professional Realm of Puzzles, Logic, LEGO and Scrabble

The Concert and Lecture Series and Game Studies and Design are pleased to announce a lecture by Eric Harshbarger titled “Curiouser and Curiouser: The Professional Realm of Puzzles, Logic, LEGO®, and Scrabble®” Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5-6 p.m. in the Wills Hall master classroom (Wills 200).

Harshbarger is a mathematician by education, a computer engineer by trade and a puzzle wizard by personal choice. He combines a love of games, toys and puzzles into his professional portfolio.

He is the author of Pentomino Puzzles: 365 Teasers to Keep Your Brain in Shape, and his work has been featured in Wired and Games magazines. He was a puzzle consultant for the BBC program The Code.

He is also a competitive Scrabble® player, a professional LEGO® sculptor and has designed and published several physical puzzles and games. He has been organizing puzzle-based scavenger hunts called “Puzzle Parties” in Auburn for the last 10 years.

He will also conduct a masterclass with the Game Studies and Design 302 Workshop students following the lecture.
