Secondary Education Alternative Master's Program Overview thumbnail.The Secondary Education Alternative Master’s Program at the University of Montevallo is for those who have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher and desire a master’s degree and advanced teacher certification (Class A) in Alabama. UM’s Alternative Certification areas are as follows: biology, business, chemistry, English/language arts, family and consumer science (FCS), general science, history, mathematics, social science or Spanish. This certification will allow graduates to teach at the middle and high school level (grades 6-12).
