Eric Travis, Ph.D.

Dr. Eric Travis, assistant professor of management, is a native of Geneva County, Alabama, but is now binational American-Brazilian. He holds a BA in anthropology from Georgia State University, MSM/MBA focused on international business from The Georgia Institute of Technology, MS in international affairs from The Georgia Institute of Technology and Ph.D. in strategy and organizational analysis from the Federal University of Parana (Universidade Federal do Parana – UFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil.

He has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Columbus State University, at Skema Business School – a French Grande Ecole and at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He has worked as a graduate research and teaching assistant and research fellow at the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at The Georgia Institute of Technology.

Travis teach a variety of courses at Montevallo and is also the coordinator of NSE, International Affairs and International Education for the University. His approach to business and management primarily focuses on the perspectives of culture and socio-political economy. He has authored and co-authored several book chapters and articles in international, peer-reviewed journals and was the English editor and translator for the Brazilian Academy of Management (ANPAD) and its academic journals for more than 10 years. Travis has been married for more than 20 years, and lives with 29 dogs and varying numbers of foster kids between two farms – one in central Alabama and another in Morretes, Parana, Brazil.
