July 10, 2020: Update for International Students (International Safety Plan)

International Safety Plan

Dear international students,

Recently, the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) issued new guidance prohibiting international students from returning to or remaining in the United States if the universities they attend are entirely online.

As we understand the SEVP guidance, the regulation does not apply to international students enrolled at universities such as Montevallo operating under a hybrid model of online and in-person classes for the fall semester. More detailed information from the UM Registrar’s Office is attached to this email.

In an effort to ensure the safety for everyone on our campus and in compliance with Centers for Disease Control guidance, we have developed an International Student Safety Plan to help prepare you for your return to Montevallo. Details of that plan are also attached to this email.

If you have any questions about the SEVP guidelines, please contact Amy Minor at minorad@montevallo.edu. If you have questions about the International Student Safety Plan, please email falcons@montevallo.edu.

We look forward to welcoming you back to campus in the coming weeks.
