SACSCOC defines a QEP as “a document developed by the institution that (1) includes a process identifying key issues emerging from institutional assessment, (2) focuses on learning outcomes and/or the environment supporting student learning and accomplishing the mission of the institution, (3) demonstrates institutional capability for the initiation, implementation, and completion of the QEP, (4) includes broad-based involvement of institutional constituencies in the development and proposed implementation of the QEP, and (5) identifies goals and a plan to assess their achievement.”
UM is in the process of selecting a new QEP topic as part of our 2021 SACSCOC Reaffirmation process. The QEP Topic Selection Team began work in January of 2019 and will recommend a topic by November of 2019. The charge of the QEP Topic Selection Team is: 1) Study existing assessment data; 2) Collect Feedback; 3) Study Feedback; 4) Study Literature (initial Literature Search); 5) Recommend QEP Topic or “Focus Area”
The QEP Development Team will work from January of 2020 through early 2021 when they will submit the QEP document for review by UM’s SACSCOC On-Site Review Committee. The charge of the QEP Development Team is:
1) Literature Search; 2) Development of Goals, Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), and Action Activities; 3) Develop Assessment Plan with Tools; 4) Construct and Write Plan for submission to SACSCOC.
