TRiO Day 2011

Join us for Alabama’s TRiO Day 2011 on February 19, 2011 on the campus of the University of Montevallo at the McChesney Student Activity Center. Transportation will be provided for current UMUB students from their schools.

On February 28, 1986, the US House of Representatives and the Senate concurred there should be a National TRIO Day on which the nation should turn its attention to the needs of youth and adults aspiring to improve their lives though higher education. Every year, TRIO Programs all across the country recognize and celebrate the achievements of participants. In addition, the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) asks that TRIO Day also be a day of service, which is why we are collecting school supplies for deserving students.

We have a day packed full of beneficial information and exciting entertainment.

Alabama TRiO Day will include TRIO alumni, guest speakers, a step show, entertainment, Lunch, campus tour swag; break‐out sessions; college fair; student recognitions; and a service project. For more details, download the agenda.

For the Alabama TRIO Day 2011 Service Project, we will be collecting school supplies which will be delivered to deserving students in area schools. Please bring pencils, pens, paper (copy, notebook, graph, construction, etc.), books, calculators, highlighters, notebooks, crayons, etc. to TRIO Day. We will have a collection box available during Registration.

Current UMUB students will receive one (1) Cultural Enrichment credit for attending Alabama TRiO Day 2011, and one (1) community Service credit for participating in the Alabama TRIO Day 2011 Service Project.
