The faculty and staff of the University of Montevallo Upward Bound program are proud to announce the A and A/B Honor Rolls for the first 9 weeks of the 2010-2011 Academic Year. Purple and gold—symbols of royalty and wealth—what more could describe the importance of learning and the success that comes through a quality education here at the University of Montevallo! As we help students soar toward academic success, we recognize that they, too, might need help to soar above adversity.
Each year, the University of Montevallo Upward Bound students participate in collecting donations with the annual Holiday Tree Fundraiser. With the proceeds from this event, many deserving high school students are awarded scholarships for college. While Upward Bound is a federally funded pre-college program, any scholarship money awarded must be earned at the local level. Therefore, the amount of the scholarship we are able to offer is dependent on the amount of money raised from the fundraisers. Last year, we were able to award over $2,500 in Senior Book Scholarships from monies generated from the annual Holiday Tree Fundraiser.
